I've got a mate who shares the same name as his direct ancestor Sir Christopher Fulwood, who was shot in the arse trying to flee his castle in Derbyshire when the parliamentarains turned up and promptry died. Fullwood Castle is now a load of rubble. How's your luck?

Just watched this. Really interesting stuff. The stuff about the fallout from the civil war leading to so many landed gentry ending up as peasants makes ya think how many normal folk could have royal blood in them.

I'm not usually one to bash DD but at times all the "cako bako" type shit made the programme almost unbearable.

As well as my direct paternal line I also looked into my dads mothers family (Todd, Scots-Irish). Traced that back fairly quickly as a lor of people had already established the tree. Turns out I and Abraham Lincoln have a common ancestor.

But I guess the point there is its all about the records. If they were complete going back to year dot everyone is related to everyone.

Like Wansted hammer I was also born in Mile End hospital (old work house), so enjoyed them showing that bit.

Wansted - used to go that library every week when at Cayley primary school....might go back for a butchers at some of the old history and a walk down memory street.

Thought it was a 'pwoper' decent episode btw..,obvious he knew before about it going to end with money, as he kept going about it at the start...it was also very much channeled towards the direction it took and was not as direct a blood line as they made out. Fair play though, no matter how much you keep picking the best family member to follow back, most people would end being able to go back to the Edward III!!

You are absolutely correct that the sheer number of your antecedents means at some point everyone has blue blood. It's just whether it's proveable via the records.

I watched it based on some of the reviews here but to be honest its not that interesting and about 20 mins in I started fast forwarding to see if it got better which it didn’t, its also very selective as to which particular member of family was followed, so by the time he gets to Edward 3rd there must have been millions of variants had he followed other very very distant links.

I would say a good portion of the UK, well the Anglo Saxons!!! Who if they did similar with the same resources available to Dyer, could come up with a far flung link to Royalty as well if they went back far enough.
